Adblock Plus 0.7.5.4

Adblock Plus automatically blocks pesky online ads based on their source URl. You can easily turn it off or tell it to display ads when you visit certain sites.

Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them. Right-click on a banner and choose “Adblock” from the context menu — the banner won’t be downloaded again. Maybe even replace parts of the banner address with star symbols to block similar banners as well. Or choose a filter subscription, then even this simple task will usually be unnecessary: the filter subscription will block most advertisements fully automatically.

Adblock Plus 0.7.5.4 released

Note that while Firefox 1.5, Thunderbird 1.5 and SeaMonkey 1.0 are still supported, these applications receive less testing and it is recommended to upgrade to at least Firefox 2.0, Thunderbird 2.0 or SeaMonkey 1.1. Support for older versions will likely be dropped in a few months.

PC World chooses Adblock Plus as one of 100 best products 2007

It seems that Adblock Plus was chosen as one of 100 best products of 2007. This is pretty remarkable since the list consists not only from software solutions but has lots of hardware and services as well. From what I can see, Adblock Plus is the only Firefox extension chosen this year (last year StumbleUpon, NoScript and Greasemonkey made it). Also, it seems that I was the only physical person who received the award this year, most others being larger companies like Google or Intel.

Adblock Plus 0.7.5.1 released

Major changes

  • All columns in the list of blockable items are visible by default now that there is space for them
  • Improved K-Meleon support

Adblock Plus 0.7.5 released

Major changes

  • List of blockable items is displayed at the bottom of the browser window
  • Element hiding improvements: matches are now counted and appear in list of
    blockable items
  • Subscriptions can now be moved to new locations without inconveniences for
    users
  • Support for additional blocking features in Firefox 2.0.0.4 and higher
  • Compatibility with K-Meleon 1.1

Known issues

  • Mac OS X: Flash movies might not be displayed properly if “Show tabs on
Flash and Java” option is switched on

Adblock Plus 0.7.2.4 released

Major changes

  • Fixed context menu when “Check banner links” option is switched on
  • Tabs on Flash and Java should no longer break page layout
  • Closed a way for web sites to detect Adblock Plus by abusing bug 292789 in Gecko
  • Made handling of different object types more consistent

Known issues

  • Adblock Plus triggers a bug in Firefox 2.0 causing some extensions (e.g.
Google Notebook) and websites to break. And upgrade to Firefox 2.0.0.1 will fix
    this.
